Teams Android Device Management Update: What Fusion Connect Customers Need to Know

Microsoft has announced that, starting May 15, 2025, they will update Android devices' firmware to use Intune AOSP (Android Open Source Project) device management. This change moves devices from Android Device Administrator to AOSP Device Management and will impact some Fusion Connect customers.

Timing:

Microsoft will begin rolling out updates on May 15, 2025. You cannot defer or pause these updates after the end of May 2025.

Impacted Devices from Fusion Connect:

While this update affects devices from all manufacturers, customers may have purchased one of the following devices from Fusion Connect.

  • Poly CCX Series
    • Updates start on May 31, 2025
    • You have the option to update these devices manually. However, manual firmware availability requires updating the Teams app to version 1449/1.0.94.2025084203 as a prerequisite.
  • Poly Studio Room 
    • Updates start on June 15, 2025
    • Yealink Teams Phones and Conference Phones 
  • Updates start on May 31, 2025
    • You can update these devices manually. Manual firmware availability requires updating to firmware version 122.15.0.166 (for MP54/MP56/MP58) or firmware version 143.15.0.74 (for CP965) as a prerequisite.

Note: You will not be impacted if your organization does not enroll Teams Devices into Intune today and currently has the Intune license unassigned from accounts signing into Teams Devices.
